When it comes people and their dogs nothing is too good or too impractical for their pampered friends. Or is it? There are two schools of thought on the issue of clothes for dogs.

On the other hand, many people feel purchasing clothes for dogs is very practical especially in cold weather. Why not put a pair of doggie boots and a doggie sweater on Fido before he goes outside in zero degree weather? Even with fur, many dogs don’t tolerate the cold as well as we think they do. Some dogs have arthritis and the cold makes it worse. A doggie coat or sweater can make a big difference in this case.

Some dog owners like to put a coat or sweater on their dog before they romp outside in the snow, or even before they venture out into the rain. They swear their dog would be too uncomfortable and cold to stay outside if not for the clothes. Some dog owners just think it’s funny to dress their pooch in a costume or a tee shirt that makes a statement. They feel as long as the dog doesn’t try to run away when they’re dressing them, then why not treat them to a great little outfit. Many dog owners will buy their pet designer clothes and spend hundreds, even thousands of dollars on those clothes.

Whether you believe that clothes for dogs is silly or practical, the practice is here to stay. There are tons of websites that cater to all shapes and sizes of dogs and even your local pet store now carry clothes for dogs.
