When it comes people and their dogs nothing is too good or too impractical for their pampered friends. Or is it? There are two schools of thought on the issue of clothes for dogs.

Some believe dressing a dog in clothes is unfair to the animal, even cruel. They think it is demeaning to the dog and a complete and utter waste of money. Some dogs will refuse to allow their owner to put clothing on them and have even been known to bite the owner when they try. Some people feel that those who buy clothes for dogs are treating them like a doll and dressing them up; they feel that is totally inappropriate. Some people just find clothes for dogs to be downright silly.

On the other hand, many people feel purchasing clothes for dogs is very practical especially in cold weather. Why not put a pair of doggie boots and a doggie sweater on Fido before he goes outside in zero degree weather? Even with fur, many dogs don’t tolerate the cold as well as we think they do. Some dogs have arthritis and the cold makes it worse. A doggie coat or sweater can make a big difference in this case.

Some dog owners like to put a coat or sweater on their dog before they romp outside in the snow, or even before they venture out into the rain. They swear their dog would be too uncomfortable and cold to stay outside if not for the clothes. Some dog owners just think it’s funny to dress their pooch in a costume or a tee shirt that makes a statement. They feel as long as the dog doesn’t try to run away when they’re dressing them, then why not treat them to a great little outfit. Many dog owners will buy their pet designer clothes and spend hundreds, even thousands of dollars on those clothes.

Whether you believe that clothes for dogs is silly or practical, the practice is here to stay. There are tons of websites that cater to all shapes and sizes of dogs and even your local pet store now carry clothes for dogs.

When you are going out shopping for clothing you will want to make sure that you purchase the right clothing for your body shape. When you purchase the wrong clothing for your shape, you can end up looking different than you would like to. However, when you purchase clothing that fits your body shape then you will look great. You will look like a person that has style and others will appreciate your choice in clothing.

One thing that you will want to do is to take a good look at yourself in pictures. This can be the hard part, but you want to make sure that you are completely honest with yourself. You want to admit your faults to yourself and realize your own problem areas. It’s not until you admit your worst parts that you can truly shop for your body shape. If you have a friend that will be honest with you and that you trust, then you can ask them to help you out.

When you are trying on clothing you want to make sure that you try on clothing that will flatter your better parts and help you to conceal, or downplay your worst parts. For example, if you know that you have very broad shoulders then you will want to stay away from wearing blouses which have built in shoulder pads. The shoulder pads will leave your shoulders looking extra large and bulky. If you have short legs, then you don’t want to wear pants which flare out near the bottom because these will have your legs looking even shorter. A very tall person with skinny long legs will not want to wear pants which taper in toward the ankles because these will make your legs look oddly long.
